Talk between Fabienne Dumont and Nil Yalter

On the occasion of the exhibition Exile is a hard job L’Atlas invites you to a talk between Fabienne Dumont and Nil Yalter.

Fabienne Dumont is an art historian, art critic and HDR lecturer in contemporary art at Rennes 2 University, feminism, gender and queer specialist, in connection with a cultural, social and politic perspective.

Her thesis became a book, Des sorcières comme les autres – Artistes et féministes dans la France des années 1970 (Rennes, PUR, 2014). She edited an anthology, La rébellion du Deuxième Sexe – L’histoire de l’art au crible des théories féministes anglo-américaines (1970-2000) (Dijon, Les presses du réel, 2011) and co-conducted two collective projects, L’histoire n’est pas donnée – Art contemporain et postcolonialité en France (Rennes, PUR, 2016) and À l’Ouest toute ! Travailleuses de Bretagne et d’ailleurs (Dijon, Les presses du réel, 2017). In 2019, two publications of hers accompanied a retrospective on Nil Yalter at the MAC VAL, of which she and Franck Lamy curated : Nil Yalter – À la confluence des mémoires migrantes, féministes, ouvrières et des mythologies (Vitry-sur-Seine, MAC VAL) and Nil Yalter – Entretien avec Fabienne Dumont (Paris, Manuella Éditions/Aware). In 2022, she conducted a book of artists’s looks on Alice Neel (New York, ER Publishing).
