For the last exhibition of the year, L’Atlas invites the association Portes ouvertes sur l’art.

Exploring the undefined space of exile, the exhibition will bring together artists whose visual practices reveal and question this psychic territory of displacement. Palestinian director Kamal Aljafari will present the installation Camera of the Dispossessed (2023) for the first time in Europe, and Anna Jermolaewa, an artist exiled from Russia, will present Rehearsal for Swan Lake (2024) for the first time since its release at the 2024 Venice Biennale.

The exhibition is curated by Allyn Aglaïa and Julien Frydman.

About Portes ouvertes sur l’art

Founded in 2017, the Portes Ouvertes sur l’Art association promotes artists living in exile in France, in a spirit of openness and research. Initially, a collective of French and Syrian art professionals pooled their skills and networks to promote Syrian artists in Paris. Since then, the association has expanded its reach to artists from other cultural and political contexts.

The goal is to disseminate the artists’ work to the public in collaboration with the art world. Curators are invited to meet with the artists and organize exhibitions and events. The association’s initiatives stem from a collective effort with artists, curators, and partners. The association’s members are volunteers, and projects evolve according to needs and opportunities, with rigor and respect.
